I did it! I actually managed to post on the blog for an entire month! Well, 30 days, but I promise there's going to be a super spooky Halloween post up tomorrow to round things up. I've always looked to people who daily blog and been completely in awe of them, so I'm honestly so proud of myself that I've managed to do it for a whole month. October has, as you may have guessed, been a month which was mainly spent working from my laptop. I only decided that I was going to do Blogtober a couple of days before October began, so most of my posts were only written the day before they went live. It's been a tough one for sure.

As well as daily blogging, I've done a few other bits and bobs in October which I wanted to share. Last month, the lovely Grace did a round-up post on her blog including some stats from her month, so I was inspired to do something similar, and share October through numbers.

2 trips to Bristol. I went to Bristol twice this month! It's always a fun escape from the reality of work when I go there and I love being able to explore all of the culture which the city has to offer. This time around I had a lovely veggie brunch at Saffron cafe, bought some gorgeous print magazines at Papersmiths and spent some time shopping around in their independent book shops.

40 hours spent blogging. Okay, so this figure may not be 100% accurate, but I tried to work it out as best as I could. I wrote 31 blog posts this month at what usually works at as about an hour a post, plus some extra time for photos for each. So yup, around 40 hours spent tapping away at my laptop. Honestly, it feels like it's been longer than that. But I'd definitely do it again! I'm not sure I'll have recovered in time for Blogmas (I really miss having a bit more of a life than I've had this month), but Blogtober may happen again next year!

5 books read. In a slight improvement on last month, I've managed to read 5 books this month! There'll be a post up on the blog next week about which ones I've read and loved but as a hint at why this number is as high as it is: two of them were children's books which I read as research for an article that I'm currently writing for a well-known publication... watch this space! As a bonus, I also read an unpublished book through October which I'm editing for the author, so, watch that space too!

5 online splurges. Working for an online fashion company means that I'm always, always looking at clothing stores online sites. I have just a teeny, tiny obsession with placing online orders, so much so that I've had to rope it back from the days where I'd literally be placing 4 orders a week. In October, I placed 5 online orders on ASOS, Missguided and New Look. It could be worse, right?! I bought a few cosy knits for Autumn and some Halloween gear which I totally, 100% needed.

2 cinema trips. I've been trying to cut down on how often I go to the cinema this month, and I think I did pretty well by only going to see two film on the big screen. I watched Kingsman: The Golden Circle and absolutely loved it. It's not often that i love a sequel as much as the first film, but I definitely did in this case. I also saw Thor and although I'm only recently getting into the Avengers films, I really enjoyed it!

2 freelance gigs. In an attempt to get my name out there a bit further than just on my blog, I've been trying my hand at a little bit of freelancing this month. I did two jobs which I've been super proud of! One of them was the article which I mentioned earlier for a pretty big UK publication (the biggest I've ever written for!), and the second was a photography gig, taking photos of someones studio for their website.

1 dream camera purchased. Speaking of photography, I also finally invested in my dream camera this month after wanting it for years! Yep, I may now be down to half of my travel savings, however, I am now the proud mother of an Olympus Pen E-PL7. I've been working really hard on improving my photography game recently and I know that this is definitely going to help.

1 trip to Southampton. The final fun trip I squeezed in this month was a trip to my sisters uni town to visit her for the day. We went to Franco Manca for lunch and wandered around Waterstone's with my mum. The sun was randomly shinning and it was way too warm for October, but we had a really lovely catch-up!

So, that was a round-up of my October in numbers. If you fancy catching up on all of my blogtober posts, why not take a look at this handy lil tag of all of them?

  1. This is such a different yet insightful blog post! Also off topic but can I just say how inspiring it is that you've spent 40 hours working on your blog this month. I discovered your blog about a month ago, and it's already one of my all time favourites. Seeing how hard you work (and the amazing final outcome) is v inspirational for a new blogger like me. So, thanks for sharing! Can't wait to see what else your blog brings!
