MY FAVOURITE WAYS TO SPEND A SUNDAY | BLOGTOBER 15

To me, Saturday's have always been for adventures and Sunday's have always been for recovering from those adventures. Not in a laying in bed hungover all day kind of way (although I have spent my fair share of Sundays in that way), but in a pottering about the house, drinking copious cups of tea in my slippers kind of way. I guess to me, Sunday is the best day for self-care and to get yourself feeling relaxed and refreshed for the new week. It's the perfect day to practise a little bit of hygge and just relax with trashy TV and good food. I think it's really important to make sure that you have a 'me' day once in a while. Here are a few ways I like to spend my Sunday.

Read a magazine.  I rarely buy magazines, but when I do I usually save them up for Sundays when I have a little more time to appreciate them. I find that magazines help me to slow down a little more. There's something about a physical copy in your hands which helps me to feel more relaxed than reading online articles does.

Go for brunch. I love staying in on Sunday's, but if I do actually get dressed and leave the house, it's only going to be for brunch. Sometimes getting out of the house and catching up with friends over eggs, avo and pots of tea is the best way to spend the last of your weekend.

Take a colourful bath. What is it about baths which just makes everything better? Especially when a Lush bath bomb and some candles are involved. My fave Sunday routine is to listen to a podcast in the bath and just have 40 minutes of relaxing before facing Monday.

Play some video games. Video games on a Sunday is the best way to say 'I'm not doing anything productive today and I'm cool with that.' Recently, I've loved playing Life is Strange on a Sunday and getting lost in an immersive imaginary world for a few hours before returning back to reality.

Catch up on your fave shows. Whether you're binge watching your favourite Netflix show or catching up on X Factor or Strictly, Sunday's were made for lazing around with a duvet, in front of the TV. I don't have much time to watch my shows in the week, which means I usually have a whole bunch to catch up on over the weekend. Perfect Sunday.

Practise your hobby. You'll often find me pottering about the house on a Sunday setting up flatlay photos for upcoming blog posts or Instagram's. It may sound like a chore to others, but for me it's something I love to spend a little extra time on over the weekends. Whatever your hobby, whether it's drawing or knitting, take a little time to indulge in it on a Sunday.

Spend time in the kitchen. Sunday's are the one day of the week where I actually have a little more time to cook. Why not spend your afternoon cooking a roast dinner from scratch? Or baking a cake for the family to share? It's fun, productive and will distract you from looking at screens for a little while.

Social detox. I spend so much of my time looking at screens. Monday-Friday I look at a screen for my job, and at the weekend I look at a screen both for leisure and for blog work. I usually try to take a little bit of time on a Sunday to read, write or just generally stop replying to messages for a few hours, in an effort to let my eyes have some time off from staring at a screen.

Practise self-care. The most important thing for me to do on a Sunday is practise self-care and make sure that I'm going in to the new week as stress free as possible. Whether it's using a face mask, practising yoga or even just writing out a meal plan for the week, I feel like if I've taken some me time on Sunday, then I'm ready for whatever Monday has to throw at me.

Happy Sunday!
