I've been dying for a summer holiday for months, mainly because the bookmarks bar on my laptop has been bursting with gorgeous summer dresses from all over the high street which I just couldn't justify buying for an English summer. This week, I was lucky enough to join my boyfriend and his family on a trip to Vence, a picturesque little town located right next to Nice in the South of France. I spent the week completely relaxing, which made a huge change from the usual action packed city break holidays which I'm used to! It was so nice to laze around by the pool, eat bread and cheese and soak up the sun for a few days. I even snapped a few photos (with the help of my budding Instagram photographer boyfriend) of a few of the outfits I took with me.

On one of our evenings in Vence we went into the small town for dinner and all took the opportunity to get a little more dressed up. I opted for this gorgeous little New Look playsuit and my trusty Zara basket bag. Vence was absolutely alive that evening with excited tourists and locals all merging together to celebrate Bastille Day under the stars. We ate our dinner out at a long table on the street and soaked up the vibrant atmosphere. A three man band walked past our table and serenaded us with their percussion and in the distance the sound of excitable people dancing the Tango could be heard. The little town was drenched in colour and felt so alive.

One of our mornings was spent exploring the little town of St-Paul-de-Vence, famous for being one of the oldest medieval towns on the French Riviera. The entire place was absolutely gorgeous. Its winding and sloping streets were narrow, cobbled and lined with blooming greenery. Every corner you turned revealed a stunning new view point or a quaint little doorway shrouded in blossoms. I opted for wearing shorts and a little bardot top for this day of exploring. I've decided that black high waisted shorts are my new best friend and I'm never going on a summery holiday again without them.

Much of our time in Vence was spent in our own little private garden, complete with a pool, gorgeous views, a basketball hoop and a long stretch of dusty ground set up for playing boulles. It's been such a long time since I went on a holiday with plenty of pool time, so I was definitely grateful for it this time around. I took a white high waisted bikini with me as well as this gorgeous backless swimming costume from ASOS. I'm not usually a swimming costume person, but this one drew me in and had me head over heels. As someone who's not overly body confident, the fit of this costume was the absolute dream.

On our final night in Vence we all cooked and had dinner together in the villa. Again, we decided to dress up a little for our final night, so I was glad I'd saved this little denim number! I'm completely obsessed with midi dresses and I think this is my favourite one I've ever owned. It's such a flattering shape and the tie-up detail at the bust is just swoon worthy. We swam, ate, played games and ate some more to conclude our time in the South of France. I was so sad to leave. Every time I visit France it nestles itself into my heart a little bit more. I can't wait to go back!
